February Meeting with YA author panel
This month we welcome four YA authors for a special panel: Love In Any Culture
Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau, Maria E. Andreu, Emiko Jean, and Kristy Boyce are all releasing Young Adult contemporary romance novels in 2021. They will speak together about their experiences with writing romance and how it can intertwine with culture, as well as their respective publication journeys and writing processes.
Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau is a bilingual French author of young adult fiction and nonfiction. Her books have been translated into seven languages. Kisses and Croissants (Delacorte Press, 2021) is her U.S. debut. After graduating university in France, she moved to Amsterdam to begin a career in advertising. She then spent a few years in Melbourne before settling in New York City, where she lives with her Australian husband and their American cat.
Maria E. Andreu is a writer and author of Love in English (Balzer + Bray, 2021), a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection, as well as an as-yet untitled book (B+B, 2022) . Her work has appeared in Newsweek, The Washington Post, NJ.com, and the Newark Star Ledger. Her debut young adult novel, The Secret Side of Empty is a Junior Library Guild Selection, a National Indie Excellence Book Award winner, an International Latino Book Awards Finalist.
Emiko Jean is the author of Tokyo Ever After (FlatIron Books, 2021). When Emiko is not writing, she is reading. Most of her friends are imaginary. Before she became a writer she was an entomologist (fancy name for bug catcher), a candle maker, a florist, and most recently a teacher. She lives in Washington with her husband and children (unruly twins). She loves the rain.
Kristy Boyce is the author of Hot British Boyfriend (HarperTeen, 2021). She lives in Columbus, Ohio and teaches psychology as a senior lecturer at The Ohio State University. When she’s not spending time with her husband and son, she’s usually writing, reading, putting together fairy gardens, or watching happy reality TV (The Great British Bake-Off and So You Think You Can Dance are perennial favorites). Kristy loves to travel and is always looking for her next chance to return to Europe.
